The first volume, “L’ULTIMA GUARNIGIONE 1941-1945” (THE LAST TROOPS) , is about the presence of German forces between Piacenza and Reggio Emilia. It is divided into three parts, among which the first one is dedicated to the Luftwaffe and contains pictures of San Damiano airport (Piacenza) and Reggio Emilia airports. The second parts contains pictures of army soldiers (infantry, cavalry, artillery and tankmen) who passed through Piacenza in that period. The third part is about non-fighting units, such as T.O.D.T organization’s personnel, Piacenza’s station’s Reichsbahn railway personnel and administrative personnel of the Square Command. Moreover, there are interesting pictures of Czechoslovak soldiers who operated in this area next to the Germans.
